wedding Hairstylist Now

Bridal Star Hairstyles

The 2010 edition of Bridal Star Hairstyles magazine is the largest collection of fashionable wedding hairstyles pictures. The "All New Wedding Hair Collection" has over 1,500 ideas and inspirations. Featured on this year's cover are examples of romantic updos; polished ponytails; elegant half-updos; glamorous chignons; retro waves; long, lush locks; and cascading curls.

But it has more than just lots of photos. Star stylists give their Big-Day Tips. You will find detailed how-tos and expert advice as well as info on celeb trends. There is instruction about color essentials and swept-up styles. Additionally the contents includes: romantic ringlets; extension options; frizz-free curls; modern angles; natural waves; stylists' secrets; makeup tricks and flower accents.

Wedding hair trends for 2010 are revealed by Antoine Brechu, a stylist at the Roy Teeluck Salon in New York.

1. Structured

"Hair follows fashion," says BSH, "and this season runways are seeing structured clothes in terms of jackets with strong lines and shoulders with shape. To follow suit, updos will go from soft and loose to structured."

2. Half-Up, Half-Down

This is a very popular style, and rightfully so. It's got range! It can be worked differently with the volume on the top or the texture at the sides; and it suits curly, straight, and wavy hair.

3. Short

"I'm seeing more and more short [wedding] hair these days," says Brechu. "In fact, long hair is considered quite traditional. Brides, however, are happy to have short length and give hair a fun twist. For example, a bob can be slightly curled up to achieve a dramatic 1940s slant."

4. Extended

Extensions have usually been worn anywhere besides at a wedding, but now the editors suggest they are "a wonderful tool" for brides, too. If done correctly, they claim, "they will thicken, lengthen, and bring out the very best in the bride's hair."

5. Eclectic

"I've been working with lots of hair pieces that incorporate Swarovski crystals and feathers," reveals the creative wedding hairstylist. "Netting is also tres chic."

Wedding Bridal Makeup

Bridal makeup is all about creating a picture perfect image-the bride should outshine everyone on the day, and make her groom weak at the knees when she walks down the isle. The latest bridal makeup technique to help makeup artists achieve the perfect wedding makeup is airbrushing.
The cornerstone of any great makeup look is foundation, and there is no better way to apply foundation that with an airbrush. Celebrities have been using it for years to get the picture perfect makeup we see them with at the Oscars and other red carpet events-and no, they don’t all have perfect skin, but my bet is they do all have an airbrush makeup artist!

So why is airbrushing the latest bridal makeup? Well it’s taken a number of years for airbrushing to come out of the exclusive world of celebrity and into the mainstream, but since it has, women everywhere are reaping the benefits. Home and salon-use kits are available at reasonable cost, and the results an airbrush gives when compared to regular foundation application is flawless.

The reason why airbrushing is so revolutionary, and so perfect for bridal makeup is that it goes on in light layers that have perfect coverage-so for a completely covered face it only takes about eight drops of makeup-try getting flawless, soft coverage like that with eight drops of regular foundation!

Airbrushing really comes into its own as the latest bridal makeup when the bridal contouring comes into play. Contouring is essential in bridal looks because it adds definition to the face, making sure that the bride has dimension and depth in her wedding photos. With normal contouring methods, it can sometimes look a little patchy, but airbrushing blends seamlessly, so the contouring is imperceptible, except for when it counts. Color matching is also completely customizable in an airbrush.

Wedding Anniversary

A wedding anniversary is the anniversary of the date on which a wedding took place.

Wedding anniversaries are a very special time of year. This is a time in your life where you get to sit back and reflect, not only on the journey that you and your special someone has traveled, but you get to celebrate it. That is why it’s very important to celebrate the wedding anniversary every year.
The names of some anniversaries provide guidance for appropriate or traditional gifts for the spouses to give each other or if there is a party these can be brought by the guests or influence the theme or decoration. The names of the wedding anniversaries which are now common to most nations are : 5th Wooden, 10th Tin, 15th Crystal, 20th China, 25th Silver, 30th Pearl, 40th Ruby, 50th Golden, 60th Diamond, and if you’re lucky enough 80th Oak

The tradition originated in medieval Germany where if a married couple lived to celebrate the twenty fifth anniversary of their wedding, the wife was presented by her friends and neighbours with a silver wreath, partly to congratulate them for the good fortune that had prolonged the lives of the couple for so many years and partly in recognition of the fact they must have enjoyed a fairly harmonious relationship, on celebration of the fiftieth the wife received a wreath of gold.

These anniversaries were known as the silver wedding-day and the golden wedding-day. Over time the number of symbols has expanded and the German tradition was to assign gifts which had direct connections with each stage of married life.

The symbols may change over time, for example in the United Kingdom Diamond was a well known symbol for the 75th anniversary but this changed to the now more common 60th anniversary after Queen Victoria's 60 years on the throne was widely marked as her 'Diamond Jubilee.

A marriage is full of the good times and not so good times, but wedding anniversaries allow you to refocus on the marriage and put all of that behind you. To help celebrate this time in your life, it is very important to get the right gift that says I love you. If you are buying someone a wedding anniversary gift, it's important to keep in mind that great wedding anniversary presents are even more important than the wedding gift that you got them. This is because every anniversary – whether it be the 1st or 50th wedding anniversary - is a milestone that you have crossed as a couple.

Each wedding anniversary is different. However, they each hold the same kind of value to them. The kinds of gifts you buy do can never replace the love and commitment you have for one another. An anniversary is a thing to be celebrated and enjoyed. Embrace your wedding anniversaries with the same love that you embrace your marriage with. Make sure you start with a wedding anniversary poem or verse, written on a card. This is a moment in your life that you will never forget.

Lace Wedding Dresses

Lace wedding dresses seem really interesting to us and we definitely recommend you to wear such a model in your special day, the day in which you’re going to get married and your life changes completely. We’re going to start with a gorgeous looking wedding dress that will take your breath instantly! This one is made of satin and with a lot of lace embroidered areas on it. It’s made in a modern manner, with medium sized and in the front side you can observe a V neckline that highlights your breasts in a very gorgeous manner.

Let’s also mention that the hemline is type floor-length and that in the back side the dress continues with a medium sized train. The dress, as we said is designed in A-style and you can observe just how great all the details involving it are….in the back side you can observe how the dress is tied with the help of lace which end with a flower detail. Indeed, a gorgeous combination of details and we’re certain that you’re going to enjoy wearing such a dress in your wedding day. We’re going to continue with another lace wedding dress and this one is realized in a very interesting manner as well and it’s not made entirely of lace, for sure…. So, it has combined in it satin fabric as well, it’s made in a very modern manner, the straps are halter type and you can observe the breasts highlighted in a gorgeous manner with the V neckline. In the lower side you can observe how this dress is made in mermaid style and with nice details on it and some waves as well. Around the waist line you can observe a bow detail which is realized with the help of a dark ribbon and this element seems to highlight the waist line in a gorgeous manner.

The last suggestion of lace wedding dress that we want to mention about is made entirely of embroidered satin with lace on. It’s gorgeous to be worn in an open air wedding from our perspective. Also, it’s sleeveless and it has a sweetheart neckline that highlights the bust in a very interesting manner. The dress is designed in A-line and in the back side it has a short train. It can be defined as being a dress designed in A-line, but there some portions near the thighs that are very tight and you can misinterpret it as being made in mermaid style.

Champion of Champions

I love these ceramic trophies from Yellow Owl Workshop. Measuring an impressive 30cm high, they'd make a statement on any wedding table, brimming with blooms, AUS$99 + shipping from Notemaker.

I wish, they had been around when we shot our Elegant Equine Experience story from Issue 3. We had a really great day on this shoot, which was held at the historic Oakbank Racecourse, home to the largest picnic race meeting in Australia. This is an event many South Australians would be familiar with as it doesn't feel like Easter if you don't go to Oakbank. The old grandstand has so many beautiful features including the cast iron horse heads that grace the fence posts.

The horse in the pic is Annabelle's gorgeous riding pony Charm. She sure did turn on the charm for this pic - she was most interested in all the activity.

One Enchanted Afternoon

If you have a copy of our current issue you would have already seen our issue #14 spring 2010 fashion feature, however if you haven't yet seen it here it is. There's something truly beautiful about black and white photos. I think our photographer Claudio Raschella captured the shoot perfectly. I love every single one of these pictures and I have to say I was estatic to hear that Collette Dinnigan was personally blown away by her gown and how we featured it. Such inspiring feedback! The lovely Chris Geracitano did such a super duper job of hair and makeup. Genius!

Alluring Illusions

When Annabelle and I were last in Sydney, we walked past this amazing shopfront that really caught our eye - the Brad Ngata Hair Salon. Its terrificly tricky trompe l'oeil style panels (French for 'trick of the eye') and beautiful colour palette really got us thinking about the possibilities for not only upcoming photo shoots, but for wedding styling in general.

Designed by Sydney architect, Scott Weston, this salon is a clever mix of illusion and reality. Read all about Scott, and the Salon at the Design Files' excellent blog. It will surely get your imagination fired.

Fiesta Time

I love this styling shoot Emily from Once Wed and Ashley from The Flashdance did for Design*Sponge, so fun and fresh and lots of ideas to get inspiration from. Click here to see more images.

Whilst on the Mexican theme this DIY invitation using mini paper banners (papel picado's) from Casa Bonampak is a fun idea. If you love pattern and colour then why not think about incorporating some papel picado's at your wedding?

These papel picado's are from Ay Mujer's Etsy Store and you can even get customised ones with your names. You can choose the colour to fit your colour scheme.

The below invitation is made by Parrot Design Studio and fits the theme perfectly!

Hip, Hip, Hooray

For those of you who haven't been following the impressive rise of Cafe Cartolina, you may not have heard that all of their products will be soon be available here in Australia at David Jones from June. I am totally enamored with the beautiful illustrations and colour palettes.

Keep your eyes peeled, I know I will. And if you haven't visited their wonderful blog, you must – it is a wealth of inspiration and ideas, it's one of my all-time favourites.

Pin Up Girl

It's exciting times here at Style Guide, the Winter Issue is on the press as we speak, so now it's time to pack up our 'little' office, as we like to call it ready for the move to our fantastic new headquarters! Finally we are moving to our beautiful new offices complete with a fabulous photographic studio....we are so excited about the move and the chance to make our new creative space full of inspirational loveliness! Last night I was searching for some fantastic office and stationery inspiration when I found these adorable Paper Source Thumbtacks in Prairie Flora at USD$8.95 for a pack of 25 + shipping, they are perfect for a quirky, vintage theme - I can just picture them used to pin up seating cards on a display board, or maybe even to finish ribbon or fabric used to bind the stems of your bouquets. The Prairie Flora pack features a variety of hip floral fabric designs in pink, white, orange and green. These tacks would be a perfect fit for our 'A Little Bit Country' story which we featured in Issue 7 of WSG.

They are just perfect for our 'A Little Bit Country' Story!

Fab Flats

Elizabeth Syer, our girl in the know in London, sent me an email this morning alerting me to these fab flats that are taking the UK scene by storm - Coco Rose. A great idea for brides wanting a bit of relief from mile-high heels towards the end of the reception. Specially designed with a split sole, they can be easily folded and tucked into the smallest of bags. They would make a gift idea for all the girls in the wedding party.

A Sweet Setting

As the months turn cooler, we have started to think of warm, cosy colours and comforting settings. We are reminded of our Fruits of Favour story from Issue 11. Instead of elaborate floral displays we used an abundance of fruit in gorgeous red and plum tones coupled with single blooms set at each placesetting.

Three spreads from our Fruits of Favour story.

Annabelle suggests "When dressing your reception tables remember that keeping it simple can sometimes be the key to a stunning effect - an extravagant floral arrangement can often be overpowering, where as an individual bloom, set at each placesetting is perfect in its simplicity. When nestled in a sweet vessel the combination is a divine keepsake for guests, which will also add a stunning finishing touch to your tablesetting."

It's a Wrap

Every now and then I see an idea and think 'why didn't I think of that?' - this great fabric gift wrap from Chewing the Cud in one of those things. It makes so much sense to wrap a gift in something that can not only enhance the gift inside, but can be used again and again. There are a number of different designs on their website - mini fabric wraps would make a nice touch for table-placed favours. Wish I'd thought of that!

I Wish For...

One of my favourite lifestyle boutiques in Sydney would have to be Becker Minty. A long time in the making, Becker Minty have now opened their online store. Featuring a wishlist option which enables friends and family to see exactly what you've got your little eyes on, you'll never need to give another hint again. More than just an online store, it also acts as a great gift (and rather swanky if I might add) registry option. With gorgeous gift wrapping and delivery here and overseas there's no excuse to receive gifts you don't love! To experience the Becker Minty online shop visit www.beckerminty.com.

If you're looking for a wedding gown, maids dresses or even gorgeous suits make sure you pop in to Becker Minty to view their gorgeous collection. Becker Minty Woman has a beautiful range of Aurelio Costarella pieces, one of which we've featured in our current issue #14. We also featured a simply luxe men's Etiqueta Negra black velvet jacket.
